Woodlands Hospital raise more than £10,000 for GNAAS

Well done to our Corporate Partner Woodlands Hospital for raising more than £10,000 for our charity.

Woodlands Hospital, in Darlington, selected GNAAS as their chosen charity for 2024, and after a year of incredible fundraising, their logo now takes pride of place on one of our rapid response vehicles.

Businesses need to raise a minimum of £5,000 for GNAAS to become a Corporate Partner and if they reach £10,000 they qualify to have their logo displayed on the back of one of our vehicles which is used by our doctors and paramedics.

Woodlands Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, raised £10,720 over the course of last year and presented the cheque at our recent Corporate Partner celebration event held at our HQ near Eaglescliffe.

During the celebration day they had the opportunity to meet one of our former patients Dean Abbott who kindly shared the story of when he needed GNAAS’ help, as well as network with other charitable businesses.

The team from Woodlands raised funds for our charity in a variety of ways including sponsorship of our charity ball, which was attended by some of the hospital staff, and a donation of a health check worth £700, alongside a luxurious hamper worth £300 for our online advent calendar giveaway.

Last year our mascot Miles the bear paid the hospital a visit during one of their fundraising days, which included some healthy competition in the form of games of Operation, and some members of the team laced up their trainers and completed the Great North Run to support us.

During their year of fundraising they were supported by Vicky Fisher, our CSR and philanthropy specialist, who used to work at Woodlands Hospital, so she knows the staff quite well.

The hospital’s long-serving Executive Director, Debbie Dobbs, said: “The Great North Air Ambulance carries out priceless work in our region and, as a hospital embedded in the local community, it is a charity which aligns with our own values.

“Our staff really embraced the charity and we are all thrilled to have broken the £10,000 mark for such a great cause.

“We worked very closely with Vicky Fisher from GNAAS so would like to extend our thanks for her efforts as she was integral in us achieving our goal of becoming a Corporate Partner.”
